Indian K-Poppers are always overlooked by their idols’ agencies when it comes to concerts or visits to this beautifully diverse country of ours.
But does that mean we should stop trying to get into the public eye?
Hell NO!!
We try our best to steal the spotlight with many fan pages on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Our love has made certain artists stop by some Indian cities for their world tours. Artists like Lucente, M.O.N.T and recently In2it and VAV visited Mumbai, Delhi and Imphal.
Anyways. Whether they come or not, that doesn’t make our love for them any less. In our pursuit to love our biases forever, all of us have been through certain things.
Here is a list of some situations every Indian K-Pop fan goes through:
1. You think you are born in the wrong country!
You either think you are born in the wrong country or that you should be living in South Korea, Japan or the USA. Cuz the people there breathe K-Pop the whole year round in form of tours, concerts, blah blah. Not so in India!
Another reason is the time zone!!
2. When someone flicks through your gallery
The moment when your parents/relatives/non K-Pop friends look at your gallery packed with your bias and say things like, “Who are these Chinese boys?” or, “Who are these girls?”
I’ve also heard, “Eww! They have done make up!!” and “You like guys with Make up?”.
Don’t even get me started on the make-up thing.

3. When you want to play your fav number in a wedding but can’t
Let’s be honest, when you go to any big fat Indian wedding, you can’t help but dance. How you wish your favorite K-Pop number to be played. Just because no one knows the language, you have to keep calm.
4. Collab!
You wish for a collab between your beloved group and Indian artists. But the chances run in negative cuz, you know, language(s) barriers.
5. Your album takes forever to arrive
When you order your copy of a K-pop album (physical, ofc), it takes like over a month to arrive in India. This is true for official merchandise of any group too.
6. Waiting…
You always have to wait. When BTS’ movies Burn The Stage and Love Yourself World Tour in Seoul, both released in India after a couple of weeks they released worldwide. Thanks to some problems with the Censor Board. Twice’s movie didn’t even come to India.
7. I’m Broke
You want to buy and own all the cool K-Pop merch and albums out there but have to keep a watch on your spending and pocket money and be ready to answer your Mummy!! All the items …I mean in INR…cost no less than the amount you spend on your food!
You also have to pay a lot for VLive+ and official fancafes so you live on free and leaked content.
Going for concerts abroad is an expensive affair and not everyone can afford.
Things get really bad when you are in multi fandom like me…TT TT
8. Connectivity
Your love for your bias might be very strong but your internet connection might not be. Especially when you are watching something live, half the time goes into buffering. Or when your internet slows down or YouTube says ‘This Video is not available in your country’. This was true in Dramafever era too…some dramas weren’t simply available!!
9. When your favorite group announces tour dates
Lastly, that moment when your idols announce their tour dates…you know very well there are no dates in India but still you hope and wish for at least one concert in India. Excited, tense, fingers-crossed, you see the schedule but there’s no date in India so you get back to work.
These things sometimes make me wanna cry. But I guess like me all the Indian K-poppers, rather K-poppers worldwide, are ready to battle hurdles like these and follow our idols, come what may!!!
